Day 11 of 30 Day Painting Challenge

Blue Wind

Well, after layering WAY TOO MUCH paint on the last canvas yesterday , I decided to do some more simple studies. I also took some advice from Lisa Daria Kennedy to simplify my painting. So, I limited my palette to monochromatic blue. I could say this Kentucky Blue is for the Wildcats (at least that's what my husband said). I'll call it my Blue Series of the Bluegrass.

Day 10 - 1/3 of the way!

Okay, the head of the horse off the canvas doesn't quite work, but I had fun with the trees and lighting. I had to post something, even if I go back and change some things.

Well... if you talk real sweet. I mean, some paintings are just THERE!

I took a break from oils to do this one with acrylic... I will probably go back to oils. I just love the consistency and body that oil paints have. I often start a painting with acrylic, then cover it up with oils, letting some show through the layers.

Day 5 of 30

Doing anything long-term can be a challenge. So it is with painting daily. Exercise, daily Bible reading, and eating better are great new year's resolutions, but we need that extra self-discipline to carry it through. We need a support network of caring individuals who are of the same mind who will encourage us to keep our resolutions. Encourage literally means to "put the heart into" and so we look for encouragement in life to help us along. Thanks to all who have encouraged me in my artistic pursuits, which has helped make me want to keep on doing what I love - Paint Horses! Next week I'll paint horses with color, like the Paint Horse, Appaloosa, and Pinto. Not that the horses so far haven't had COLOR!
